Why then, did he make the latter so important for nutrition? Especially when a kid is recovering after a spate of bad health, when he is all cranky and whining?
Like every mother, I experienced this with my son. After about 2 weeks of typhoid and much weight loss, all that he needed to gain back his health was a hearty intake of fruits, every day. But as I had expected, he would not even touch the plate. I tried all the rules in the book, but to no avail. But there was an exception. Only when he is busy with his playstation, he would not mind me putting slices into his mouth.
I realized the secret of having him gobble up his fruits – to make it fun. I did a bit of research and used my creativity to come up with designs that would cease fruits to be a boring and bland ingredient. Instead, the fun figures would make fruits objects of desire.
Every day, I started creating funny faces and figures from the fruits he was supposed to have. There was no hard and fast rule though. The choice of fruits would depend on the design I would choose. The bottomline was, it had to be fun!
To my surprise, this worked. Though it would pose a challenge to your creativity, but that’s nothing compared to the uphill task of providing your kid his daily intake of nutrition. Thankfully, the internet is a good resource to refresh your ideas. So log on, find out what would make your kid smile and thus, you will know how to keep him healthy and happy.
